Neighbors Link partnership yields collaborative success for adult learners in construction trades
Mount Kisco nonprofit funds training, even provides dinner for students
Students in Southern Westchester BOCES’ Construction Trades Fundamentals program were lauded at a Certificate Ceremony at Neighbors Link in Mount Kisco, last month.
Neighbors Link is a valued community partner in providing this training program. The introductory course focuses on improving students’ construction skills with measurement and tool procedures, safety, materials calculation, the proper use of power tools, basic estimating, and layout. The course was fully funded by Neighbors Link, who also provided students with dinner before class.
Bringing this Adult and Continuing Education training program off-site helped Southern Westchester BOCES in its ongoing mission to break down such barriers to employment as transportation, time, and food insecurity, thus filling a great need for these participants.
“We look forward to building more and more partnerships like this where we can bring our training to where the need is greatest,” said Betsy Evans, Coordinator of Adult & Continuing Education. “We thank Neighbors Link for their partnership in this shared mission to meet students’ needs.”
