Locations: Job Training courses take place at 65 Grasslands Rd in Valhalla. Adult Literacy (GED and ESOL) classes are held in many community locations. 

Adult Education Office Hours: 

M-F, 8am-4pm

Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 to take Adult Education & Continuing Ed Courses.

Attire/Conduct: Some courses require appropriate attire for safety. Please check with your instructor. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a mature manner. Inappropriate and/or illegal behavior or failure to follow staff directions will result in disciplinary or legal action.

Certificates of Completion: The Center for Adult & Community Services will award a Certificate of Completion to students who have maintained at least 80% attendance and have shown success in the skills and aptitudes necessary for course completion as determined by a passing grade from the instructor. Completion of certificate requirements may differ for licensing programs and comprehensive accelerated programs. The duplicate certificate Fee is $15.

Class Schedule: All schedules are subject to change due to weather, availability of instructor and enrollment. SWBOCES makes every effort to schedule classes to meet the needs of our students. Please verify the schedule and location for your classes with the Adult Education Office.

Confirmations: Your registration is accepted unless you are otherwise notified. When you provide an e-mail address, an automatic reminder will be sent to you seven days before the start of class. You will be notified if your class has been canceled.

Course Cancellations/Changes: If SWBOCES cancels a course before its start date, you are refunded 100% of your tuition and registration fee. Your registration acknowledges our course refund/cancellation policy. SWBOCES reserves the right to cancel or make changes in course offerings, locations, instructors, and times when necessary.

Damage to or Loss of Personal Property or Injury on SWBOCES Premises or Off-Site: SWBOCES does not assume any responsibility, either real or implied, for the personal property of any adult occupational student or injury of any student. Students should review their own insurance coverage.

Disclaimer: We retain our instructors to teach courses in their areas of expertise. Instructors are not permitted to use the classroom for personal gain, or to solicit clients or customers. SWBOCES is not responsible for any advice or consultation given beyond the classroom setting and course curriculum materials. SWBOCES is not responsible for typographical errors.

Official Transcripts/Educational Records: Students may request an official letter or transcript of their grades or other student records by writing to the Adult Education registration office and enclosing a money order of $20 payable to Southern Westchester BOCES.

Partial Payment Plans: We offer a payment plan for any classes costing $1,000 or more. Failure to pay the appropriate tuition by the due date may result in dismissal from the program and/or ineligibility for final exam.

Payment: Tuition, including the cost of course materials except as noted, and registration fees are payable upon registration. Payment can be made by check, credit card (Discover, MasterCard, Visa) or money order only.

Persons With Disabilities: Our campus is accessible to persons with disabilities. Please notify us at the time of registration to discuss your individual requirements.

Returned Checks: Any returned check fees incurred are the student’s responsibility. A $25 fee is charged on returned checks.

School Closings and Delays: Evening classes are canceled when Southern Westchester BOCES day classes are canceled. For information on weather and emergency cancellations, tune your radio to one of these stations: WFAS-1230AM or 103.9FM; WVIP-1310AM or 106.3FM; or WHUD-100.7FM. Closings and delays are also posted on the SWBOCES and WHUD Storm Center websites. You can opt to receive Storm Center text alerts at http://www.pamal.com/stormcenter/whud.php. Security/Personal Safety/Parking: Appropriate safety standards are adhered to in all classes and labs. All students must sign the Southern Westchester BOCES Code of Conduct during orientation or on the first night of class. Students must provide personal protection equipment items such as goggles and aprons, unless otherwise noted. Students must maintain appropriate business and professional behavior while on SWBOCES property. Prohibited behavior includes abusive behavior and language, violence, alcohol on breath or drug use, and sexual harassment. Disregard for these prohibitions may warrant removal from the program. Refund policy does not apply. Students must park in designated areas. Students are subject to towing at owner’s expense if they are parked in non-approved spaces.

Smoking: Southern Westchester BOCES is a Smoke-Free Environment. This policy prohibits smoking at all times in any Southern Westchester BOCES facility, on the grounds of all facilities and in Southern Westchester BOCES vehicles.

Special Accommodations: Students who require instructional accommodations must contact a Vocational Advisor as soon as possible, but not less than 30 days before the beginning of the course. Southern Westchester BOCES needs a minimum of 30 days to arrange for reasonable accommodations if required. Please contact the office at (914) 592-0849.

Transfers: Transfer from one Adult Education class to another of equal value before the second class session only. Transfer Fee is $10.

Refund Policy: All refund requests must be made in writing using the Credit/Refund Request Form. If a student withdraws from class before the first day class begins, no tuition liability will be incurred, however a $15 processing fee (for courses under $500), or a $100 processing fee (for courses over $500) will be deducted from the refund. If a student withdraws from class after the first day of class and 24 hours before the second class, 75% of the tuition will be refunded, less the $15 processing fee. Refunds will not be granted after the second day of class. Refunds other than by charge card take four to six weeks to be processed.
