The Southern Westchester BOCES Center for Adult & Community Services was honored by Alcance Latino of White Plains with a Partner Recognition Award at the organization’s annual Baile fundraiser on October 24.

Maria Guerrero, Supervisor of Adult Literacy Programs, expressed gratitude in accepting the award on behalf of the Center and called it a milestone for SWBOCES.

"This award stands as a proud affirmation of our shared goals, mutual dedication and the power of strong collaboration,” Ms. Guerrero said. “Strong partnerships drive meaningful impact in our communities, and this recognition underscores our commitment to fostering strategic, high-value collaborations that yield long-term success."

She was joined by teachers Beatriz La Serna and Antonio Montano. The award honors SWBOCES for its parentship in offering ESL and Citizenship Exam Preparation classes Monday through Friday evenings and Saturday mornings at the organization’s Lexington Avenue location.

Alcance Latino was founded in 2022 by the Rev. Robert John Morris, pastor of St. Bernard's Church, to better serve the needs of Latino and immigrant residents of White Plains and to assist migrant individuals and families relocating to Westchester.
